Dear Commissioner for Human Rights,
Planet Earth needs a political reform. In the Declaration on Consciousness from Cambridge U.K. scientists have publicly declared that other animals are highly sentient just as humans are sentient.
Exploitation of animals is the most urgent and pressing situation today. Many problems Earth faces right now evolved through anthropogenic exploitation of animals and nature. Ebola, HIV virus, the prion protein, mold which causes trees to die and many more examples are all caused by exploitation of animals and/or natural resources.
The individual countries' governments are not moving swiftly enough to solve those pressing problems. The United Nations stands independently and its constituents are great people who want to help the Earth and all Earth inhabitants. More power must be given to the UN as soon as possible so that they can intercept in those areas where dolphins, whales, elephants, rhinos, hippos and other animals are slaughtered, poached or tortured.
We must reform the protection status which non human animals hold on Earth today. It is extremely hard if not impossible for political activists to establish better animal protection laws as long as the animals do not have the same personhood rights as humans have. The corporations hold an iron grip on the old laws because the old laws give them legal leverage above those who try to protect the animals.
Animals must be given personhood status. Even our natural resources like our forests must be given legal rights otherwise the profit only oriented corporations have too much leverage over the resources. If the UN can decide unanimously that non human animals must be given the same rights to life, health and freedom as humans already receive, then pressure will be applied to the governments and there will be a chance that governments will agree to this reform.
We are counting on the UN to support a world wide declaration on non human animals receiving personhood.
